The world of robotics has always been amazing, and it seems as though it is still barely scratching the surface of what it is capable of.
Peter Kim and his colleagues at Children’s National Medical Center have designed STAR, a supervised autonomous robot that can perform soft tissue surgery.
Aside from being an incredibly technological feat, what makes this even more exciting is its potential to remove naturally occurring human error from the surgery room. Partnered with live surgeons capable of reacting to the unexpected, this could be a huge leap for the medical world.
